Designed with safety, control and reliability in mind, the JM150 Snake Tong has quickly become our most popular choice among both professional handlers and private clients. With its extended 150 cm reach, it provides a crucial extra 50 cm of distance compared to the JM100 – keeping the snake safely further away from the handler. In snake handling, distance equals safety, making this tong ideal for removing problem snakes on mines, game farms, lodges, estates and residential properties.
Built on the foundation of our trusted PRO series, the JM range incorporates several important design improvements, all extensively tested in real-world snake handling situations.
One of the most important upgrades is the extended upper jaw, which now has a 3.4 cm overbite. This significantly improves grip and control when securing a snake. Many standard snake tongs – particularly cheap imports – have an overbite of only around 1.5 cm or less, which greatly reduces effectiveness and increases the risk of the snake slipping.
We have also reduced the gap between the upper and lower jaws when the tongs are closed. Ideally this gap should be no more than 1–2 mm, allowing the jaws to nearly meet. This prevents snakes from being pinched, reduces the risk of injury to the animal, and makes it possible to safely secure smaller species that would otherwise slip through poorly designed tongs.
For added durability and reliability in the field, the steel cable is reinforced with a double crimp, ensuring consistent performance when it matters most.
