There are more than thirty species of these strange-looking spiders in southern Africa. They have a rounded body shape with a blunt head and long spindly legs.
These spiders are wonderers and don’t build webs. They may be found in caves, beneath logs and rocks as well as in piles of firewood. They are also common in houses in dark corners and cupboards.
These spiders are slow-moving and move off if disturbed. They may be confused with the harmless Daddy-long legs spider or the venomous Violin Spider but the distinctive head shape is notable.
